An explosion in a residential building in the Pardisan neighborhood of the city of Qom injured seven people, according to the Iranian Fars News Agency, which cited a source saying the explosion was not caused by an Israeli attack.
“Four housing units were damaged in the explosion. Preliminary assessments indicate that the cause of the incident was a gas leak, and the investigation is ongoing,” said the head of the Qom Fire Department to Fars News Agency. The agency reported that the building’s residents were civilians.
He added that five ambulances arrived at the scene. The Qom Fire Department stated that the cause of the accident was “an explosion in a gas pipe.”
Today’s explosion comes just a few days after Iranian authorities reported a “strong explosion from a gas cylinder” in a residential floor of an apartment tower in the Chitgar district, west of Tehran, which injured seven people and caused significant material damage.
The Tehran Fire Department spokesperson said in a press release last Thursday that the explosion destroyed the apartment where the incident occurred and damaged the neighboring home.
